Sheffield Softworks Keyper Tutorial

Watch this tutorial to learn how to use Keyper to isolate people and remove the background from shots, with no green screen required.
Keyper uses machine learning to isolate people and remove the background from shots, with no green screen required.
Keyper is not a replacement for traditional green screen used in special effects shots, rather it allows the user to apply filters and effects separately to the people or the backgrounds to create unique and engaging effects.
People are not tracked between frames – each frame is analyzed on its own – and all people recognized by Apple’s Machine Learning are separated from the background.
Keyper can return the people, a luminance matte, or a colored representation of the matte over the background. The matte can be inverted to return the background instead.
The easiest way to use Keyper is to place a copy or clone of the desired clip on the layer above and apply Keyper to it. Then filters can be applied to the background (on the lower layer) or the people (on the upper layer).
Be certain to apply any filters that affect the look after applying Keyper as they may interfere with the ability to extract the people within the frame.
