Michele of Toolfarm was invited to the June Motion Picture Collective Meeting on plug-ins held at Pratt Institute in New York City.

Adding Motion Blur Back into Keyed Video
Have you ever tried to key footage with motion blur? Oh, it can be a
nightmare. Daniel Land, co-producer of Dirty Trousers says, "We kept the
shutter at 1/60th for the most part, but there were certainly
deviations from that from time to time. In general we just had to be
aware of motion blur in the action sequences."
If you shot with a high shutter speed to eliminate the motion blur
and make your key smoother, that was a smart move. Adding some blur
back into the motion will make the movements look more natural. If
you apply the Motion Blur filter, it applies the effect to your
entire shot, which is definitely not what you want. You can get
creative with masking and layering, or you can use a plug-in such as
RE:Vision Effects
ReelSmart Motion Blur.
"Add motion blur in post by using optical flow technologies such
as ReelSmart Motion Blur and add depth-of-field by layering chroma
clips and post-blurring them." says Jonas Hummelstrand on his
terrific motion graphics blog, GeneralSpecialist.com. ReelSmart
Motion Blur is available for Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro,
Autodesk Combustion, Apple Final Cut Pro. ReelSmart Motion Blur

RED is a very capable text creation tool that provides a rich environment for static lower-thirds - the common way of treating subtitles. But how do you make hundreds of lower-thirds without going mad? Follow the easy steps in this tutorial to generate any number of subtitles automatically...
Tutorial: Generate a Volumetric Light Effect with BCC Rays CartoonIn this tutorial, we will use BCC Rays Cartoon to generate a volumetric lighting effect on an animated text element; BCC Rays Carton will also give the text the appearance of being made of neon lights. Then, we will use BCC Light Sweep to add a light sweep across the face of the text. Finally, to complete the effect, we will use BCC Colorize Glow to provide a soft glowing look.
